More about Mannar
Kitesurfing Mannar is situated at the end of the fisherman-village Talaimannar Village South. A very ‘remote’ place up in the North of Sri Lanka.
You’ll be enjoying rough nature with the locals (Tamils). You’ll be most likely to stay at the hotel ground for most of the time.
But this is no problem, at all! Because the hotel is fully equipped to accommodate the active kitesurfer.
Jaffna is the biggest ‘must see’ city close by.
The Tamil culture is clearly present here! Aside from the language being Tamil, you can spot numerous Hindu temples. Go to the sky bar but don’t forget to get a taste of the “raw” “unpolished” side of beautiful Lanka: the Archeological museum is something else! We also liked visiting the Jaffna Fort.
Want to learn some Tamil up front?

Kitesurfing Mannar is owned by the same people that run Kitesurfing Lanka (Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka). These guys, Léo & Dil, are busy with several projects in order to raise awareness for sustainability and to make their hotels footprint as small as possible!
For example: you can help planting mangroves or do BIG beach cleanups on the kitespot (it’s necessary…).
Reduce your own footprint by taking a re-usable bag (like this kitesurfer tote-bag) so you can turn down the plastic bag offered in EVERY shop.
Use a bamboo toothbrush (like this one especially for kitesurfers!) and a re-usable water bottle.
