MORE ABOUT IBIZA
Kitesurfing Ibiza?! For sure! Let us take you through the process.
From May until October it is forbidden to kite off the beaches in Ibiza and Formentera. Thanks to our host David and his special RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) we are able to anchor in the calm blue waters while we take the RIB to a more suitable spot. There we can enjoy uncrowded kitesurfing and amazing wind and scenery of Ibiza and Formentera.
At Cala Nova, Aguas Blancas, Playa d’en Bossa and Cala Martina the northern and eastern winds are very suitable for surfing, windsurfing and of course kitesurfing. According to many Cala Martina is the best spot out there, but thanks to kitesurf cruise Ibiza vessel we can go wherever winds are best!
Currency and methods of payment.
The currency in Ibiza, Spain is the euro, the same as in other European Union countries. You can either pay with credit- or debit card or with cash.
Arrival and departure
You’ll fly into Ibiza Airport (“IBZ”) with EasyJet, Transavia or KLM. All of them do have different rules regarding kiteboard bags. You can read more about this on our blog.
You can find affordable flights through Kiwi.com or FlyGRN.com. If you want to offset your flight carbon footprint have a look at FlyGreen! All airport transfers are included in your kitesurf cruise Ibiza booking and arrival dates are flexible
KITESURFING IBIZA – SPOTGUIDE
In the Balearics the summer winds are often thermal and are not shown in the weather forecasts like Windguru. Luckily we are able to follow the wind thanks to our gulet! We’ll be dropping anchor in nice and calm waters so any non kitesurfing guests can enjoy the beautiful scenery in and on the water as well.
Thermal winds can be expected daily in June, July and August. In september and October there are often storms around Ibiza.
>> Cala Martina: relatively busy beach on the NE of Ibiza – works with SW direction. Unfortunately it’s not allowed to kite here from May to October. But thanks to the boat, we do kite in this area.
>>Espalmador Island: located just a short boatride from Formentera, works best with E winds. East is offshore but therefore means super flat conditions. Rescue boat is always available. Easterly winds can be expected here for the bigger part of the summer due to thermal winds.
W is side onshore, which is also nice.
>>Es Vedra & Cala Conta: From July on, you can only kite here by launching from the boat. We go here when Espalmador gets to crowded.
>>Escavallet: our host David goes here often to do the first lesson on land. SE/ E is onshore here, there are no thermal wind effects here so keep an eye on windguru for this one.
>> Cala Nova: located in the NE of Ibiza. We have a collaboration with SurfCorner. This surfshop located on the center of Ibiza, rents out surfboards.
>>Aguas Blancas: is also a surfspot but this one is more secluded.
Dominant wind direction differs between NE and SE, knots between 13 and 20. Kites for males are between 10 – 14 meters.
Tip: let host David surprise you by taking you to the best spots around the island. Let him know any preference you might have and he’ll find you the perfect off the beaten track locations.

The UNESCO committee defined Ibiza as a privileged environment due to its diversity and natural values, considering the richness of the prairies of oceanic posidonia (seabed plants) the best preserved in the Mediterranean and located within a Natural Reserve. These prairies hold 220 different species, including three globally threatened, one of them being the monk seal. They are responsible for the purity and transparency of the water that surrounds the island. Therefore UNESCO chose Ibiza in 1999 as one of the places to be preserved for future generations.
The owners of the gulet that will take you on your kitesurfing cruise can tell you all about it. They lost their hearts to Ibiza and are highly motivated to do as much as they can to preserve the underwater world and save it for current and future generations to enjoy.
On the boat
Joanne, David and Gavier are doing the best they can to provide you with the best biological products. They buy the fruit and veggies from local farms. Gavier produces his own olive oil, with tastes amazing! The soaps used are organic and the bread comes from a specialized organic bakery.
Perhaps in abundance: The dirty water on board is collected in a tank and later emptied.
